Connecting to Wi-Fi for Smart App Use (SmartClean UV)

Although your SmartClean can be used alone without connecting to the app at all, many useful features can be unlocked by pairing it to your phone to control it via the app. Setting a smart schedule for your vacuum is one of its best and most popular features. Your SmartClean can clean your home while you are away - but be sure to prep the floor surface area,  removing anything the vacuum might get stuck on (e.g blind cords) so it can do a thorough job without getting stuck and need manual rescuing midway!

A few things you will need to check before starting:

• Make sure the Wi-Fi in your home is currently working.

• Is your home Wi-Fi  2.4ghz? (If you are not sure you will need to check with your Wi-Fi provider. The vacuum will not connect to 5ghz Wi-Fi.)

• If you have dual Wi-Fi in your home, make sure both are working on the same password.  Be sure nobody in your home has changed the Wi-Fi  password!

• If your router allows you to switch back and forth from 2.4 to 5 on the router itself, make sure it is set at 2.4 for this process.

Step 1:

Make sure the vacuum has been charged but leave off of the charging dock for the connection process.

Start with vacuum powered off.

Step 2:

Open up the Tzumi Smart Home App. This is available for download on the App Store.

The app looks like this:

Select the Add Device button in the top right corner of the home screen

Select Robotic Vacuums, then select SmartClean UV.

Step 3:

Enter your Wi-Fi Information.

Make sure you are using the correct Wi-Fi  password!

When entering into the App, it will not inform you if the wrong password was entered.

It will continue on as normal but will not connect at the end of the process.

(If your home Wi-Fi  is listed more than once, make sure to select the Wi-Fi that does NOT say 5)

Step 4:

The following screen will be a page that says RESET THE DEVICE FIRST.

Do not click through this page just yet!

Turn on your vacuum by holding down the power button until you hear it power on.

Then hold down both buttons on the top of the vacuum until you hear the vacuum say "Wi-Fi Lost".

At this point the lights should be blinking.

If they are not blinking, press and hold both buttons again, until they are blinking.

Once blinking, on the  RESET THE DEVICE FIRST page. check off the circle on the page labeled "confirm both lights are blinking" and the Next button will light up. Click it..

The App will transition into an "adding device page", where it should connect within a minute.

Some things to keep in mind if these steps do not work out for you on the first tries:

• Make sure the Data Roaming Access is turned on in your Phone

• When you reset the vacuum and get the lights blinking, this puts the vacuum into 'pairing mode'.  It only stays in pairing mode for a very short period and then times out, so you want to put into pairing mode right before you press confirm in the App,  otherwise the pairing process can time out and keep the vacuum from connecting.

• If you do have dual Wi-Fi and are not able to select between 2.4 and 5ghz, it can often help to get further away from the router.  2.4ghz has a further reach and so even if you step outside just for the connection process, this can often help.

You can also contact your Wi-Fi provider to see if they can help you disconnect the 5ghz just for the connection process.
